Hummus and Tabouli with homemade pita bread
Humus Ingredients:
- Chickpeas, one 14 oz can
- Tahini, 1/3 cup
- Garlic, 1 clove
- Lemon juice, 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
- Garlic powder, 1 teaspoon
- Paprika, 1/4 teaspoon for garnish
- Olive oil, one tablespoon for garnish
Tabouli Ingredients:
- Parsley, one bunch
- Scallions, one bunch
- Tomato, one
- Lemon juice, 3 tablespoons
- Cracked wheet, 1/3 cup
- Warm water, 1 cup
- Olive oil, 3 tablespoons
- Salt, 1/4 teaspoon
- Pepper, 1/4 teaspoon
- Cayenne pepper, 1/4 teaspoon
Pita Bread Ingredients:
- Pita bread, 1
- Olive oil, 2 tablespoon
- Salt, 1 teaspoon
- Saatar, 1 teaspoon
Directions for humus:
- Combine everything in the food processor: Combine the chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil and garlic powder.
- Blend the humus until it is smooth. Usually 1 to 2 minutes.
- When the humus is well blended, pour it into a bowl.
- For garnish, add a tablespoon of olive oil and 1/4 teaspoon of paprika.
Directions for tabouli:
- Pour one cup of warm water in a bowl and add 1/3 cup of fine cracked wheat/ bulgur. Let it sit while you prepare the tabouli. About 15 minutes.
- Wash parsley very good and damp dry with a paper towel.
- Put the parsley in a food processor. Let it run for about 3 minutes or until parsley is fine.
- Place the fine parsley in a big bowl and add the scallions, tomato and lemon juice.
- Drain the water from the cracked wheat and add to the mixture.
- Add the cayenne pepper
- Add olive oil, salt and pepper
Directions for pita bread:
- Brush the pita bread with olive oil on both sides.
- Sprinkle with salt on both sides.
- Sprinkle za’atar on both sides.
- Cut the pita bread in triangular pieces with a pizza cutter.
- Put in the oven 450 for 15 minutes.
